Some careers are more than just a job. They’re a way to connect, inspire, and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. For Tami Mallett, real estate isn’t just about buying and selling homes… it’s about helping people achieve their dreams, building wealth, and strengthening communities.

In this edition of Women Business Owners Who Are Making a Difference, we’re excited to highlight Tami’s story, the impact she’s making in real estate, and the lessons she’s learned along the way.

Lynn Davey: Tell me a little about yourself! Where are you from, and what inspires you every day?

Tami Mallett: I am from the New Hampshire seacoast. My parents are Winnacunnet High School alumni, I graduated from WHS and UNH and my now adult children also graduated from WHS. I am inspired by the people I work with. Every day is different in my work. I’m passionate about helping my clients achieve their real estate goals.

LD: How would you describe your business in one sentence?

TM: I use my experience and skills to help my clients maximize their results when buying and/or selling a home.

LD: What does your business do, and who do you serve?

TM: I work with homeowners, homebuyers, and investors from start to finish in the real estate process of selling and/or buying a property. I serve clients in all price points, single family, multi-family, condo, manufactured homes, in NH, MA, and Maine – primarily along the coast.

LD: What inspired you to start your business, and what was the moment you knew this was the path for you?

TM:My mother was a Realtor in the 1970’s! I purchased my first home in Newmarket when I was 19 years old for $20,000. It needed a lot of work! My family helped me fix the home up and I sold it for $35,000 and invested the profit into a 3-family in Newmarket. This also needed a lot of work, but at 20 years old I started to build my wealth and enjoy the stability of owning my own home and having passive income.

LD: What’s one thing you wish more people knew about your industry or the work you do?

TM: One thing I wish more people knew about the work I do in real estate is how much strategy and expertise go into getting the best results for my clients. It’s not just about putting a sign in the yard or opening doors for buyers–it’s about understanding the market, pricing strategically, marketing aggressively, negotiating effectively and managing every detail to make the process smooth and successful.

LD: What do you love most about running your business?

TM: What I love most about my business is the people–genuine, amazing individuals from all walks of life. It’s an honor to connect and guide them through such an important transition.

LD: How does your business make a difference, either in your community, industry, or for your clients?

TM: My business gives back to local non-profit organizations for every transaction. Last year we donated over $10,000 to local charities. I also volunteer time at non-profit organizations (Cat Tales) and I am on the Board of Directors for TASC.

LD: What’s a project, initiative, or moment in your career that you’re most proud of?

TM: One of my biggest success stories was a client, Roger, who was in his 60’s and had never owned a home. When I met Roger at the first showing, he had doubts that he could accomplish purchasing a home. He told me he had never had a washer and dryer in his apartment (all these years!) and he would love to have that amenity. I was determined to work hard and get Roger into his own home.

Without a cell phone and/or access to an email, we ran into challenges to get through the home search, park application and financing application but, with the help of his family we were able to overcome many obstacles and make it to the closing table. Seeing the  joy on his face when getting the keys to his home gave me one of the best feelings of happiness and pride for a client and our work together that I could ask for.

This was one of the smallest sales and possibly one of the most challenging that year and by far, it was one of the moments I was most proud of.

LD: Are there any causes or organizations you support that align with your mission?

TM: I love animals. I support NHSPCA and Cat Tales Rescue. Other organizations that I donate to include Transportation Assistance for Seacoast Citizens (I am also on the board of directors), Seacoast Family Promise, Cross Roads House,  and Dress for Success.

LD: What’s a piece of advice you’d share with another woman who is thinking about starting her own business?

TM:Take the plunge, it’s worth it! Surround yourself with like minded people who support you and help you grow and thrive. Be adaptable to change and keep an open mind. Stay positive and strong. Treat every client as if they are your only client. Go above and beyond. Strive to be the best at everything you do and never stop learning.

LD: If you weren’t a realtor, what would you be doing instead?

TM: That’s a good question! I likely would be in the service industry. I love the hotel and restaurant industry. Love to travel and explore places. In my work, I feel lucky to travel 3 states to help clients and at the same time I learn about different areas and appreciate all New England has to offer.

LD: Where can people find you or learn more about your business?

TM: You can find me at tamimallett.com as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
