Lisa Sargent is a freelance copywriter for nonprofits all over the world. She wanted a relaxed vibe that relayed her artistic nature.

We live in a visual culture and we tend to make snap decisions based on how someone looks.

If you are the face of your business, then your marketing plan should include great photos of you that convey your unique personality. Getting a professional to help you with your photo brand and to get photos that portray your confidence and personality, is one of the best ways to attract your ideal client.

Often we get into ruts about how we present ourselves to the world. In our busy entrepreneurial life, we sometimes forget that how we look or brand ourselves, represents our business. You may think you don’t care, but you should. 90% of the information processed by the brain is visual and it takes only 13 milliseconds for the human brain to process an image.

That is why going to a professional for help with branding photography can be such a relief.

There is nothing like another pair of eyes to look at you from a fresh perspective. A good branding photographer has honed their skills and will be able to portray your uniqueness and story in photos. Having a professional suite of photos that are unique to you will bring your business to the next level.

A good branding photographer should go deep. What I mean, is that they should be interested in their clients’ stories and want to know more about them. They should help with wardrobe, sets, and props. It should be a process of collaboration to get an outcome that will help your business to grow. And, it helps your business to grow by telling a story. A lot of it is subtle, because we still want to stick to the norms of the day, and we want to be professional. But within that subtlety, there is a personal, unique story.
Most people are very reticent about even appearing in photos. And a large percentage of people tell me they hate the way they look in photos. Once you get photos of yourself that you actually like or better yet, love, it can even change your perception of yourself. It’s another rung in the ladder towards building your entrepreneurial confidence. I know it can be scary getting in front of the camera, but once you go through the process, you will be so happy you did.
